Warmer weather promotes calls for everyone to develop a bushfire plan

Severe and very high fire danger conditions yesterday saw Tasmania face the first real test of 2021 and thanks to early preparation and the Rapid Weight of Response strategy carried out, the fires were detected and contained early.

With the Summer bushfire season now upon us, ongoing vigilance and awareness remains critical and this includes monitoring the fire danger in your area.

Tasmanians are also encouraged to have a 5-minute bushfire plan to better understand their bushfire risk and prepare their properties for the event of a bushfire.

Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Mark Shelton advised the Government invested $17.6 million in a comprehensive package of mitigation initiatives.

β€œWe are delivering a clear plan for bushfire prevention across our state, because we know that when landowners, industry, farmers and the wider community are supported in this way, all Tasmanians will be safer.”

With the weather heating up, Tasmanians are being encouraged to develop a 5-minute bushfire plan. More information on how to develop a plan can be found here
