Tasmanians passionate about improving health services encouraged to apply for the Tasmanian Health Senate

Tasmanians passionate about improving health services and patient health outcomes are invited to apply for membership of the inaugural Tasmanian Health Senate and become more involved in shaping our healthcare system.

“Expressions of Interest are now open for the new Tasmanian Health Senate which has been established by the Tasmanian Liberal Government as a key commitment of the Our Healthcare Future reform.” Said Premier and Minister for Health, Jeremy Rockliff.

This new body will bring together expertise and experience from across the State to provide advice on issues of strategic importance to the Tasmanian health system.

“Across Australia and overseas, Health Senates have been found to contribute positively to healthcare reform and clinical engagement by strengthening the clinical and consumer voice in health planning.”

“The Senate has been co-designed with key stakeholders to provide leadership and advice on the planning and delivery of future health services to the Tasmanian community.”

“Importantly, we want the Senate to be representative of the Tasmanian community and are seeking to ensure membership reflects a range of gender, age, health, geographical, and cultural backgrounds.”

“We are looking for people with both health expertise and who work or have worked in the health system, as well as for people who use health services, lived-experience advocates, carers and support people, and people who represent population priority groups, as well as the wider community.”

Anyone who is interested in an opportunity to help shape the healthcare system should submit their application by 9th October 2022.
