Serious crash on the Tasman Highway caused serious injuries

Emergency services attended a serious two vehicle crash on the Tasman Highway at Cambridge on Thursday the 18th of March 2021.

At approximately 5:50 PM a red Nissan Navara utility and a silver Nissan 200sx coupe were involved in the crash in the Hobart bound lanes at Tunnel Hill.

The driver of the Nissan coupe, a 28-year-old male from Cambridge, was removed from the vehicle by emergency services and transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. He remained in hospital overnight.

The driver of the Nissan utility, a 60-year-old male from Dodges Ferry, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers underwent mandatory blood testing following the crash.

The crash caused the highway to be closed to traffic for approximately 4 hours while an investigation was undertaken by police.

The incident continues to be investigated and any person who may have observed either vehicle driving prior to the crash is asked to contact Bellerive Police on 131 444.
