A man is in custody following the safe resolution of an incident in Preolenna Road, Flowerdale.

The man was taken into custody about 11.55am after he allegedly set fire to the house and left via a window.

The man is being treated for minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Tasmania Fire Service is currently on scene and responding to the fire.

Police are responding to an incident on Preolenna Rd, Flowerdale where a person has secured themselves inside a property.

People are asked to avoid the area until the incident is resolved. There is no one else inside the property.

Police have advised that this incident is not related to the search for Kerry Whiting.
