Police are currently investigating an armed robbery at the Lighthouse Hotel in Ulverstone which occurred at approximately 9.20pm last night where it is believed a man threatened a staff member with a firearm or firearm part while demanding money.

The female bar attendant emptied the contents of the cash drawer into a small blue backpack, belonging to the male. The male then left the building via the southern door of the gaming lounge and was last seen running from a rear car park onto Victoria Street and then west along the train line.

The man was wearing a balaclava, a dark coloured jacket, dark coloured pants and black and white shoes. He is described by witnesses to be approximately 185cm tall, of slim build and fair coloured skin.

No injuries were sustained during the incident and Police would like to reassure the public that this appears to be an isolated incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
