A 43-year-old man from Glenorchy is currently in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital, following a crash which occurred late Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at around 4:40pm, on Riawena Road, Montagu Bay.

Initial investigations, including review of CCTV from the area, indicate that the rider who was operating a motorised bicycle was overtaking a slow-moving vehicle when he impacted into an oncoming vehicle.   As a result, the rider landed heavily on the road.

The rider, who was wearing an unapproved helmet, sustained facial injuries and a broken arm.

Emergency services would like to thank members of the community, who assisted the rider prior to their arrival.
