Man charged over allegedly transiting indecent communication to a minor

A 52 year old Tasmanian man from the Derwent Valley has been charged by Tasmania Police investigators with using a carriage device to transit indecent communication to a person under 16 years of age.

Police allege the man sent indecent material to a 14 year old child and after a joint investigation by Tasmania Police’s Cyber and Child Exploitation Crime Division and the Australian Federal Police.

He was arrested on Wednesday 31 March in the Derwent Valley and charged.

The man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 2 June 2021.
