
On Sunday afternoon a 19-year-old woman was assaulted during a robbery at a Launceston juice bar.
In a statement issued by Tasmania Police, “the woman was working at the Park Street business shortly before 4.30pm when a male entered the business and assaulted her before stealing a quantity of cash from the register as well as keys to a vehicle. He left the business and stole a car from outside.”
“The car was later recovered in a carpark near Plumer St, Mowbray. The woman was taken by ambulance to the Launceston Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.”
“The male was described as wearing a black cap, sunglasses, carrying a black backpack and wearing a grey top with two stripes on the sleeves over the top of another black top. He was wearing distinctive black shoes with bright orange stripes.”
Police have since located and charged a 38-year-old man of no fixed address in relation to the abovementioned incidents and will appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court tonight.
The 38-year-old man has been charged with:
Aggravated robbery
Motor Vehicle stealing
Burglary
Stealing
Drive while disqualified.
