Learner driver caught speeding and driving whilst unsupervised

A learner driver has felt the wrath of the law this morning after being detected by police travelling 45 km/h over the posted speed limit.

At approximately 1.45am today, police detected a black Holden utility travelling at 125 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the Brooker Highway, Glenorchy.

Police intercepted the vehicle and the driver was identified as a 17-year-old learner driver.

Police were concerned to discover that the unaccompanied learner driver was travelling with 4 peer passengers at the time of the offence.

Learner drivers must be accompanied by a fully licenced driver whilst driving.

The driver was issued with a 7 month license disqualification and fines totalling $1,204.
