Alcohol and drugs believed to be a contributing factor to a serious accident

Three people received serious but non life threatening injuries following a two vehicle crash on Atkinsons Road, Grindelwald, earlier today.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene in the vicinity of 40 Atkinsons Road after a westbound white Ford Falcon sedan collided with an eastbound red Suzuki Swift about 12.20pm today.

The female driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki Swift received non life threatening injuries, as did the female driver and the male passenger of the Ford Falcon. All were transported to the Launceston General Hospital for medical treatment.

Sgt Scott McKinnell said that initial investigations suggest that alcohol/drugs were believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

“No charges have been laid at this stage but investigations are ongoing,” Sgt McKinnell said.
